# Notion launches a developer platform with CLI, Workers, and agent tools

By Steven Van · 2026-05-13

New beta and alpha tools let developers sync outside data into Notion, extend Custom Agents, and bring agents like Claude into a workspace.

Notion is opening its platform to developers with a set of new tools for syncing data, building agent capabilities, and connecting outside agents to a workspace, released together as the [Notion Developer Platform](<https://www.notion.com/releases/2026-05-13>).

- **Notion CLI** (ntn): a command-line tool for developers and coding agents to sign in to a workspace, read and act in Notion, and build and deploy Workers. Installed with *curl -fsSL https://ntn.dev | bash*.

- **Workers**: a hosted runtime for running custom code on [Notion](<https://creatorstoolbox.com/tools/notion>)'s infrastructure. Free to try during the beta period, then billed on Notion credits starting **August 11, 2026**.

- **Database sync** (beta): pulls data from any API, such as Zendesk tickets or Salesforce records, into Notion databases without running your own servers.

- **Agent tools** (beta): deterministic, code-based tools deployed as Workers to extend what Custom Agents can do beyond Notion and MCP alone.

- **Webhook triggers** (beta): let outside apps trigger actions in Notion, such as closing a task when a pull request merges.

- **External Agents API** (alpha, waitlist): brings outside agents such as Claude, Codex, and Decagon into Notion to work alongside a team.

- **Notion Agent SDK** (alpha, waitlist): embeds Notion Agents into other tools, such as a button in a CRM or a bot in Discord.

Alongside these, Notion rebuilt the Connections tab in workspace settings so every personal and workspace connection, access token, and internal API connection shows in one place; opened API connections to any workspace member rather than just Owners; and rebuilt its developer docs with a built-in AI assistant. Notion MCP now works with Meeting Notes and block comments, and database creation and updates are 91% more token-efficient. Separately, Notion added the ability to merge cells in simple tables.
