# Notion Desktop waits before background refreshes

By Steven Van · 2026-09-15

Notion Desktop now delays tab refreshes until work is done, cutting visible interruptions from over 30% to under 3%.

[Notion](<https://creatorstoolbox.com/tools/notion>) Desktop now waits to apply background updates to a tab you're actively using until you're done with it, rather than refreshing mid-task. According to the [announcement](<https://x.com/i/status/2099599643319619942>), visible refreshes dropped from more than 30% to under 3% on the new version, cutting down on interruptions and lost work while reading, typing, uploading, or recording meeting transcripts.
