# Icon names and database icons

By Steven Van · 2026-07-01

When setting a native icon, name now also accepts the icon picker name, so values like "token" and "star circle" can set the same Notion icon.

Notion's [API update](<https://developers.notion.com/page/changelog#july-1-2026>) lets the name field accept icon picker names when setting a native icon, so values like "token" or "star circle" now set the same icon as picking it in the app. [Notion](<https://creatorstoolbox.com/tools/notion>)'s databases.retrieve endpoint also now returns the icon shown in the Notion UI, matching what dataSources.retrieve already surfaced.
