# HTML blocks via the API

By Steven Van · 2026-07-03

You can now create HTML blocks with the API.

Notion's API can now create HTML blocks directly. Developers upload an .html file with the File Upload API, then attach it to an embed block using **embed.file\_upload** when appending block children, creating a page, or updating a block.

The Notion app renders the file's contents interactively in a sandboxed iframe, the same HTML block the app creates with the **/html** command and that agents create through [Notion](<https://creatorstoolbox.com/tools/notion>) MCP.
