# Notion opens an early alpha of custom blocks to developers

Notion has opened an early alpha of custom blocks, a new primitive for building interactive blocks that can read a workspace's pages and databases. The team describes it as very early and experimental, and is opening it to developers to see what they build with it, according to the [announcement](<https://x.com/i/status/2085061653843099663>).
