# Moving Image Archive launches search by the shot

By Steven Van · 2026-10-24

Cova's Moving Image Archive is a free library of public-domain clips you can search by describing a shot, then preview and download.

[Cova](<https://x.com/covacut>) launched [Moving Image Archive](<https://creatorstoolbox.com/resources/moving-image-archive>) on October 24. The post calls it a free library of 100,000 historical clips and says you can search by the shot.

Official Moving Image Archive announcement demo.

On the site, you search by describing a shot, then preview and download individual clips. The homepage says it is for searching, watching, and downloading public-domain archival footage by the shot. The demo searches for a shot and shows clips with a duration and a year, plus a download. The About page says the material is drawn from public-domain collections and is free to reuse.

Cova's post does not list a paid plan or a subscription. The site presents browsing and clip downloads as free. It does not publish a separate price.
