By Steven Van · 2026-10-09

Motion 14.1.0 brings layout animations to vanilla JS and fixes bugs in hover and tap states, scroll, AnimatePresence and paused animations.

[Motion](<https://creatorstoolbox.com/tools/motion-studio>) 14.1.0 adds animateLayout, which brings layout animations to vanilla JS. Until now the feature was available through the React components. The release also includes several fixes, listed in the [changelog](<https://motion.dev/changelog?lib=motion#14-1>).

## Layout animations

Layout animations can now run inside dragged elements.

## Fixes

- Animation start is now delayed when the main thread is held, to prevent visual jumps.

- whileHover and whileTap no longer get stuck after Fast Refresh reorders siblings.

- scroll and useScroll now report elastic overscroll correctly.

- AnimatePresence now handles popLayout correctly when rendering into another window or iframe.

- animate no longer makes JS animations jump ahead when they are played after a pause at a speed other than 1.
