# New controls for Linear coding agent

Linear's cloud coding agent adds adaptive model routing, access to environment secrets during setup, and support for open-weight models like GLM.

[Linear](<https://creatorstoolbox.com/tools/linear>) is adding new controls for its [coding agent](<https://linear.app/changelog/2026-09-24-new-controls-for-linear-coding-agent>), covering which model handles a session, what it can access during setup, and which model families are available at all.

- **Adaptive routing**: simpler tasks are automatically routed to a faster model, while more complex work uses the default reasoning model. If a task needs more capability than expected, the session can be restarted on the default model while keeping the original pull request for reference.

- **Environment secrets**: coding sessions can now access environment secrets during setup, to securely fetch private dependencies and other environment config.

- **Open-weight models**: coding sessions now support open-weight models, starting with GLM-powered sessions. Workspace admins and owners choose which models are available from Coding sessions settings.
