# Kino lets Claude Code and Codex edit the whole video

By Steven Van · 2026-10-29

Drop in footage and agents can cut and share it, though the pricing page does not print a Pro price.

On October 29, 2026, Luke Igel introduced [Kino](<https://creatorstoolbox.com/tools/kino>) as a way to make videos end to end with Claude Code and Codex. You drop in footage, get highlights, edit together, send links for feedback, and let agents work in what he called a home for a team and its agents. The site puts footage, the edit, and review notes in one place, and the post does not list a price.

## The edit and the library

You ask for the cut. The agent reads the footage, makes the edit, and leaves every clip on the timeline to move. Footage lives in Kino, and terabytes scrub locally. The homepage says each clip is transcribed, described, and knows who is in it. RED, Blackmagic RAW, ProRes, DNxHR, and MXF play without a transcode. Clips stream from Kino, so a project opens the same on any machine. Motion graphics sit on Remotion, with more than 100 templates.

## Agents and review

The desktop app runs an MCP server, so ChatGPT, Claude Code, Codex, and Cursor can search footage and edit from their own chat. Dot, Muse, Grok Bot, and Devin can install Kino on their own computer. Claude Code and Codex also run inside the app on the Claude or ChatGPT plan you already have. A review link puts comments on the timeline, and the agent can answer them. Viewers watch in a browser with no account. Release 1.5.66 is offered for Mac, Windows, and Linux.

## What is free

The full editor is free forever, with unlimited imports and exports, real-time collaboration, and MCP for any agent. No credit card is required. Pro adds shareable links, searchable footage, and AI editing such as rough cuts and motion graphics. Credits are hours of footage for transcription, scene detection, search, chat, and motion graphics. Overages are billed on demand. Plans start at $0 a month. The page does not print a Pro dollar amount.
