# Ideogram Precise Edit can change part of an 8K image

By Steven Van · 2026-10-29

A context window edits a region up to 2K at the original pixels inside images up to 8K, in the app and the API.

On October 29, [Ideogram](<https://creatorstoolbox.com/tools/ideogram>) posted a context window for Precise Edit. You edit an area up to 2K inside a very high-resolution image, and everything outside that window stays untouched. Ideogram says it is in the app and the API.

Official Ideogram announcement demo.

The Precise Edit page says you can make surgical edits in images up to 8K, and that a region up to 2K is edited at its original pixels. A mask is the pixels that may change. The context window is the area the model reads so the edit blends. The page says you need that window, or an automatic fit around the mask, if you want the full upload resolution back.

If you edit the whole image and the area is larger than 2048 by 2048, Ideogram says the edit is downscaled. The tool page lists per-image API prices. The X post does not.
