# Extend Your Firm’s Ethical Walls Into Harvey With iManage

By Steven Van · 2026-10-29

Harvey now applies iManage Security Policy Manager walls to Threads, Vaults, Review Tables and Spaces for customers using iManage.

Ethical walls set in iManage now carry into [Harvey](<https://creatorstoolbox.com/tools/harvey>). Harvey [enforces them](<https://www.harvey.ai/en-US/blog/ethical-walls-harvey-imanage>) using client matters and policies synced from iManage Security Policy Manager (SPM), after an early access period with select customers.

## What Harvey checks

Harvey controls who can access and share content tied to a client matter by checking the information barrier and ethical wall policies kept in SPM. That covers who may be cleared for a restricted matter and who is excluded from an otherwise open one. When enforcement is turned on, those policies apply to Threads, Vaults, Review Tables and Spaces.

iManage SPM remains the system of record. Policies are managed there and synced into Harvey. When a policy changes, only users permissioned in iManage keep equivalent access to Harvey resources, so admins do not have to check access by hand.

## How it works in practice

- When a team syncs an iManage workspace into a Vault, Harvey applies the relevant client matter and SPM policy automatically.

- When someone shares that Vault, Harvey checks each recipient against the wall. A colleague outside the barrier cannot open it until they are permissioned through the firm's usual process.

- For queries across several iManage documents from different client matters, sharing a thread triggers a check of whether the recipient is walled off from each matter.

## Audit logs

Harvey's audit logs record wall membership syncs, space access attempts and changes to enforcement. Risk teams can use them to confirm how policies were applied and to investigate access over time.

## Eversheds Sutherland as design partner

Eversheds Sutherland worked with Harvey as a design partner. During its pilot, the firm kept walled matters out of Harvey and asked users to share Vaults only with colleagues permissioned on the matter. With enforcement in place, it brought those matters into scope and deployed Harvey firmwide. Rachel Broquard, Service Excellence Partner at the firm, said lawyers can now sync iManage folders to a Vault, on a daily schedule or on demand, and collaborate on the shared Vault knowing information barriers are respected.

## Availability

Ethical wall enforcement with iManage SPM is generally available to Harvey customers using iManage. Harvey asks customers to contact their Harvey representative to confirm availability for their iManage deployment and to plan a rollout.
