# Generate Content API storage on by default

By Steven Van · 2026-10-26

New paid-tier projects now log Generate Content API requests by default; existing projects are unchanged, and opting out is per request or in settings.

New projects on the paid tier that use the Generate Content API now store requests by default. The change covers generateContent, streamGenerateContent and batchGenerateContent in [Google Gemini](<https://creatorstoolbox.com/tools/gemini>), which now default to store=true, matching the Interactions API.

## Who is affected

The default applies to new projects only. Existing projects keep their current setting. The [Logs and datasets documentation](<https://ai.google.dev/gemini-api/docs/logs-datasets#configure-logging>) has the details.

## Opting out

- Set store=false on individual requests.

- Turn off Generate Content API logging in the Settings panel of the Logs and Datasets dashboard.
