# Gemini API adds managed agents with hosted Linux sandboxes

By Steven Van · 2026-05-20

Google AI Studio now provisions the sandbox per API call, with agent instructions, skills and tools defined in Markdown.

Google AI Studio now offers Managed Agents through the Gemini API. A single API call provisions an agent with its own remote Linux environment, hosted by Google and built to scale, so developers don't need to set up and maintain their own sandbox infrastructure. Instructions, skills, and tools for the agent are defined in Markdown.
