# Xcode 27 runner image generally available

The GA image runs on macOS 27 with the Xcode 27 toolchain and is available on Apple Silicon (arm64) runners only, not Intel.

The Xcode 27 runner image for [GitHub](<https://creatorstoolbox.com/tools/github>) Actions is now generally available, after a public preview. The [GitHub-hosted image](<https://github.com/actions/runner-images>) runs on macOS 27 and includes the Xcode 27 toolchain and Apple SDKs, for building and testing Apple applications.

## Image labels

Each Xcode-based image supports one major Xcode version rather than targeting a specific operating system version. This makes it easier to select the toolchain a project needs and to know what each runner provides.

To use the image, set a workflow's runs-on: value to one of these labels:

- xcode-27

- xcode-27-xlarge

Workflows that already use these labels do not need to change.

## Availability

The image is available on Apple Silicon (arm64) runners only, not Intel runners. The installed software list is in the runner-images repository, which is also where to report issues.
