# GitHub Copilot suggests custom properties definitions

Copilot suggests allowed values for new custom properties, in public preview for Copilot Business and Enterprise plans.

GitHub Copilot can now suggest allowed values when admins create a custom property for repositories in an organization. The feature is in public preview for **Copilot Business** and **Copilot Enterprise** plans.

[GitHub](<https://creatorstoolbox.com/tools/github>) uses custom properties to attach governance metadata to repositories, which admins then use to target repositories with rulesets. Getting started has been a challenge because admins often aren't sure which properties to define or what allowed values to use, and inconsistent metadata makes governance harder to apply across a large fleet of repositories. Now, when creating a new custom property definition at the enterprise or organization level, Copilot suggests relevant allowed values based on the property being defined: a multi-select property like FedRAMP surfaces suggested compliance-related values, while a single-select property like internet-facing surfaces values such as yes and no. Suggestions can be accepted in one click.

Enterprise and organization owners can control availability of the feature through the **Repository custom property suggestions** Copilot policy.
