# Draft pull requests count toward pull request limits

By Steven Van · 2026-10-08

Maintainers can configure the setting to curb repository spam and the clutter, notifications, and CI runs it creates.

Repository maintainers on [GitHub](<https://creatorstoolbox.com/tools/github>) can now configure pull request limits to include drafts. Previously, drafts did not count toward a user’s limit, so someone could open unlimited drafts even when other pull requests were capped.

## Including drafts in the limit

The setting lets maintainers count draft pull requests toward the same user limit. GitHub’s [announcement](<https://github.blog/changelog/2026-10-08-draft-pull-requests-count-toward-pull-request-limits>) says this helps reduce the clutter, notifications, and CI runs associated with repository spam.
