# Gemini can preview and edit files inside the chat

By Steven Van · 2026-10-29

Generate a document, PDF, deck, or spreadsheet and revise it in the chat. PDFs work on mobile. The other formats are web only.

On October 29, [Gemini](<https://creatorstoolbox.com/tools/gemini>) posted that you can generate, preview, and edit documents, PDFs, presentations, spreadsheets, and more directly in the chat. This is the editing step on top of the earlier ability to generate a downloadable file.

Google's blog says you can expand a file to full screen and type, highlight a passage and ask about it, or have Gemini change the text or the visuals. The example is a PDF study guide made from handwritten lecture notes, which you then edit by hand or by highlighting a section. The blog says a video on the post shows that flow.

PDF preview and editing work on the web and on mobile. Google Docs, Google Sheets, slide decks, Markdown, TXT, and code are web only. Google says this is available to all users in every language where the Gemini app is available. The post does not list a price.
