# Gemini 4 Carbon rolls out first to cyber defenders

By Steven Van · 2026-10-28

Google’s latest frontier model ranks first on a new intelligence index, but access starts with cyber defenders in the Fairwind Program.

On October 28, 2026, Google announced [Gemini](<https://creatorstoolbox.com/tools/gemini>) 4 Carbon, its latest frontier model. It follows Gemini 4 Argon, generally available since October 13. Google says Carbon ranks first on v5.0 of the Artificial Analysis Intelligence Index and sets a new state of the art in cybersecurity and long-horizon work.

Access is limited. Starting this week, a subset of cyber defenders gets Carbon, then more trusted partners through the [Fairwind Program](<https://deepmind.google/fairwind-program/>). Google says it is in the U.S. government’s voluntary pre-release testing and will gather feedback before developers, businesses, and consumers can use it.

The blog lists the same introductory API price as Argon, $2 per million input tokens and $10 per million output tokens, with cached input 95 percent off. After that period the listed rates are $4 and $20. It does not say when the introductory price ends.
