# MCP: search templates

By Steven Van · 2026-08-31

The MCP server's new search tool lists workspace and official Explore templates together, each usable with a different generation endpoint.

The [Gamma](<https://creatorstoolbox.com/tools/gamma>) MCP server now has a search\_templates tool that returns workspace templates and official Explore templates in a single call, according to the [changelog entry](<https://developers.gamma.app/reference/changelog#mcp-search-templates>).

## What the search returns

The tool is backed by GET /templates/search in the API, which returns both kinds of template in one request. Each kind feeds a different endpoint:

- Workspace templates can be used as the gammaId for POST /generations/from-template.

- Official Explore templates can be used as the templateId for POST /agent/generations.

## Related search additions

The same changelog entry also lists GET /gammas/search, a full-text search over the titles and body text of gammas the caller can access. The MCP server gained a matching search\_gammas tool.
