# Framer adds cursor-tracking ripple effect for images

By Steven Van · 2026-06-25

The interactive shader distorts images with water-like ripples and lets you customise size, intensity and motion.

Framer added its first interactive shader, called Ripple. Applied to an image, it distorts the image with water-like ripples that follow the cursor, and the size, intensity and motion can be customised. The effect uses spring-based cursor tracking, combining Framer's motion interactions with WebGL shaders.

Full details are in the [announcement](<https://www.framer.com/updates/interactive-shaders>), and Ripple is available now in [Framer](<https://creatorstoolbox.com/tools/framer>).
