# Branching and Publishing APIs By Steven Van · 2026-08-04 Plugins 4.1 brings two of our most requested capabilities to plugins: Branching and Publishing. Framer's Plugins 4.1 release adds two new capabilities to the [Framer]() plugin API: branching and publishing. Plugins can now create and switch branches, then publish and deploy a project's changes directly, workflows that previously required the editor. Framer has also [rebuilt its API docs]() with search and improved linking. - **Branching:** createBranch creates and switches to a new branch, the Branch class handles switching, merging and deleting branches, getBranch and getBranches look up branches by ID, and subscribeToBranches reacts to branch changes live. - **Publishing:** publish ships a project's changes from a plugin, deploy pushes a published version to a custom domain, getUnpublishedPageChanges lists changes since the last publish, and getDeployment and getDeploymentIssues track deploys. Other plugin API additions include a url property on Font for its source file, PathNode and ShapeGroupNode for imported vectors, createdAt and updatedAt timestamps on collection items, and ShapeContainerNode and BooleanShapeNode node types. Built-in plugins were updated too: Notion's relation fields now support up to 100 references, with clearer sync error reports and an improved sync progress interface; Tidy Up adds vertical layout and name sorting; ASCII can now be launched from the image picker; and Google Sheets adds support for the alt-text and option fields.
