# View and restore previous versions of your generative plugins and shaders

By Steven Van · 2026-10-27

Editing a generative plugin or shader in Figma now saves a version with an agent-written description, and past versions can be restored.

Figma now saves a new version each time a generative plugin or shader is edited, so earlier versions are kept and can be revisited or restored.

## Version history and change log

Each new version gets an agent-generated description. Together the descriptions form a change log, and the list also shows which version is currently published.

## Availability

The change is rolling out this week. The [release note](<https://www.figma.com/release-notes/?title=view-and-restore-previous-versions-of-your-generative-plugins-and-shaders>) does not name specific plans.

[Figma](<https://creatorstoolbox.com/tools/figma>) lists the update under AI and Design.
