# Figma renames auto layout's default spacing, adds two new options

By Steven Van · 2026-08-21

Auto Spacing now offers Between, Around and Evenly distribution to match CSS terminology.

Auto layout's auto spacing now covers two additional distribution patterns. The existing default, where items sit with even gaps between them and nothing at the edges, is renamed **Between** to match CSS terminology, and two new options join it: **Around**, which adds half a gap at each edge, and **Evenly**, which makes every gap, including the edges, identical.
