# ElevenCreative Recast swaps the character in a video from one photo

By Steven Van · 2026-10-13

Upload footage and one reference photo, and Recast replaces the character while keeping the original lighting, motion, camera movement, cuts and audio.

[ElevenCreative](<https://creatorstoolbox.com/tools/elevencreative>), the creative platform from [ElevenLabs](<https://creatorstoolbox.com/tools/elevenlabs>), launched Recast on October 13. Upload a video and a reference photo of a new character, and Recast swaps that character into the shot while keeping everything else as it was.

Official Recast announcement demo.

ElevenCreative says the lighting, composition, motion, camera movement, cuts and even the original audio stay unchanged, so one good take can carry different leads without a reshoot.

Recast lives under More tools, then Templates. You upload the base video and the character image, then click Generate. The base video can be existing footage or a clip generated in ElevenCreative’s Image & Video tool. In its step-by-step guide, ElevenCreative suggests generating the new character as a character sheet that shows a close-up portrait and a full-body shot.

The announcement does not list pricing or limits on video length.
