# draw.io Diagram Editor for SharePoint is in the Microsoft Marketplace

By Steven Van · 2026-09-17

The free web part lets SharePoint page authors edit draw.io diagrams in place, with files stored in their own document libraries and Microsoft 365 sign-in.

Anyone running modern SharePoint pages can now add draw.io diagrams to them with [draw.io](<https://creatorstoolbox.com/tools/drawio>) Diagram Editor, which [is free in the Microsoft Marketplace](<https://www.drawio.com/docs/integrations/microsoft/sharepoint/get-help/>). It adds a draw.io web part, so readers see diagrams inline and page authors edit them in place without leaving SharePoint.

## Picking and editing diagrams

Authors can pick any .drawio file from a SharePoint document library, or create a new blank diagram in a folder they choose. Visitors to a published page see the diagram with tools to zoom and step through its pages. In page edit mode, the full draw.io editor opens inside the web part. Changes are saved automatically, and several people can edit the same diagram at the same time.

The web part accepts draw.io files in XML format, usually with a .drawio extension. Files saved as .drawio.png or .drawio.svg can't be used. The file picker only shows SharePoint document libraries, so a diagram in personal OneDrive has to be copied to a library first.

## Files, sign-in and data

Diagrams are ordinary files in the library, so SharePoint versioning, permissions, sharing and retention apply to them as to any other document. Users sign in once with a Microsoft 365 account. There is no draw.io account, registration or licence key. Teams that self-host draw.io can point the web part at their own server instead of app.diagrams.net.

The editor runs in the browser and reads and writes diagram files through Microsoft Graph with the user's own permissions. draw.io servers never store diagram content.

## Installation

A SharePoint administrator installs the app once for the organisation, from the Marketplace or the SharePoint Store, and approves its Microsoft Graph permission on the API access page in the SharePoint admin center. Site owners and page authors can then add the web part to their pages. If the web part is missing from the toolbox, the app has not been added to that site, and the site owner or an administrator needs to add it.

## Support

Support is by email, with the desk monitored Monday to Friday, 09:00 to 18:00 UK time. The vendor aims to reply within one business day, and no account or login is needed to contact them.
