# Doop is an open-source AI design canvas with MCP

By Steven Van · 2026-10-31

Kevin Goedecke's beta canvas lets your agents design through MCP, though the site says MIT and the GitHub LICENSE file is AGPL-3.0.

Kevin Goedecke posted [Doop](<https://creatorstoolbox.com/tools/doop>) on October 31, 2026, an infinite canvas where agents design beside you through MCP, on your own account. The site says it is free while in beta. You can self-host one Docker container plus Postgres.

The docs connect Claude Code with claude mcp add --transport http doop https://doop.design/mcp, then a browser approval. Codex and Cursor use the same address. Agents create frames, stream HTML, and screenshot their own work. A connected repo can open a pull request of HTML and CSS.

He called it an open-source alternative to [Paper](<https://creatorstoolbox.com/tools/paper-design>). His post says Paper's free tier allows 100 MCP tool calls a week, and that Doop does not cap those calls. That figure is his claim. The site still says MIT, while the LICENSE file on GitHub is the GNU Affero General Public License version 3.
