# Claude adds support for MCP Tasks and Elicitations

Claude can now hand plugins long-running jobs such as deep research through MCP Tasks, and report back when they finish, plus support Elicitations.

Anthropic is adding support for MCP Tasks and Elicitations in [Claude](<https://creatorstoolbox.com/tools/claude>), its developer account announced on October 23.

Tasks let Claude give plugins long-running jobs, such as deep research, instead of waiting on a single quick call. Claude reports back once the job is done.

Elicitations are the other half of the update. In the Model Context Protocol, they let a connected tool pause and ask the user for extra input mid-task. Anthropic’s post did not say which Claude apps or plans get the features first.
