Anthropic has released [Claude]() Opus 5, positioning it as close to Claude Fable 5's intelligence at half the price. Pricing stays at $5/$25 per million tokens, and it's now the default model on Claude Max and the strongest available on Claude Pro. On coding and knowledge work, Opus 5 sets a new state of the art: it more than doubles Opus 4.8's score on Frontier-Bench v0.1, and on CursorBench 3.2 it comes within 0.5% of Fable 5's peak score at half the cost per task. On OSWorld 2.0, a computer-use benchmark, it beats every other model at any given cost and surpasses Fable 5's best result at just over a third of the cost. It remains behind Mythos 5 on cybersecurity tasks. It also shows gains on scientific research evaluations, including a 10.2 percentage point improvement over Opus 4.8 on an internal organic chemistry benchmark and 7.7 points on protein function prediction.
