# Claude Opus gets a 2.5x faster "fast mode

The research preview is live for Claude Code users with extra usage, while API access needs an account manager or waitlist signup.

Fast mode is a high-speed configuration of [Claude](<https://creatorstoolbox.com/tools/claude>) Opus 5 that runs output tokens about 2.5x faster while keeping the same Opus-level intelligence. It's rolling out as a limited [research preview](<https://claude.com/fast-mode>): developers using Claude Code with extra usage enabled can use it now, and access on the Claude Platform (API) requires reaching out to an account manager or joining a waitlist for those without one.
