# Claude Code sessions can now hand tasks to each other

By Steven Van · 2026-08-07

One running session sends a summary to another, which picks up the task without the user re-explaining context.

Anthropic added session-to-session messaging in [Claude](<https://creatorstoolbox.com/tools/claude>) Code: one running session can now hand off to another instead of the user repeating context by hand. The sending session sends a summary of what it's doing, not its full history or files, and the receiving session picks the task up from there. The change was [announced](<https://x.com/i/status/2085817074816070014>) on X on 7 August 2026.
