# Introducing Dots in ChatGPT

Always-on agents connect to over 4,000 apps and work through Slack, Teams and ChatGPT, rolling out on Pro, Business Premium and Enterprise plans.
OpenAI has introduced [dots]() in [ChatGPT](): always-on agents, powered by GPT-6 Astra, that work toward a user's goals in the background. Each dot has its own cloud computer and browser, and can connect to over 4,000 apps through plugins.
A user names and customises their dot, and can message it or call it in ChatGPT on desktop, web and mobile, or message it in Slack and Teams. Texting is listed as coming soon. Context carries across channels. The user can open the dot's computer at any time to inspect its work, and can give it permission to use their laptop.
Custom Rules let a user allow specific actions, require approval for others, or block them. Background "proactive research" uses read-only tools, so a dot cannot send messages or change app content while doing it. Progress, including background work, can be followed in Activity View.
OpenAI's example for content creators: when a new interview transcript arrives, a dot identifies moments for clips, prepares show notes and drafts social posts for approval. For developers, a dot can watch customer feedback and bring back tested pull requests with videos of the changes.
Dots are rolling out across **Pro**, **Business Premium** and **Enterprise** plans in eligible markets, with more users to follow. OpenAI also previewed specialist dots for organisations, with their own identity, access management and IT-provisioned hardware.
