# AI flashcards and a study guide from lecture notes

By Steven Van · 2026-09-28

Bearly turns attached notes or handouts into a flip-and-shuffle flashcard deck and study guide that opens beside the chat as an editable Page.

Attach lecture notes, slides or a handout to a [Bearly](<https://creatorstoolbox.com/tools/bearly>) chat and ask for a study guide and flashcards, and Bearly builds both as a Page, an interactive tool that opens beside the chat. The cards can be flipped, shuffled and marked as known, and the full guide sits a tab away. The feature builds on Bearly's [Pages](<https://bearly.ai/docs/features/artifacts>).

## A handout turned into a deck

Bearly's team tested it with a three-page statistics handout on confidence intervals, attached as a PDF. They sent Gemini 3.8 Flash a prompt asking for a study guide (key ideas, formulas, mistakes to avoid), then 15 flashcards with a shuffle button and a way to mark the ones already known, as a Page.

In under two minutes, a Page called Confidence Intervals Study Hub opened beside the chat:

- **Flashcards tab:** 15 cards, a count of mastered cards and cards still in review, filters for each group, and Shuffle.

- **Study guide tab:** sections for the big picture, a cheat sheet of formulas and critical values, what makes an interval wider or narrower, the conditions to check, five exam traps, and the worked example step by step.

Bearly checked every card against the handout. All 15 matched it and together covered every section, including why "there is a 95% probability that the true mean is in this interval" is incorrect. The guide also added a trap the handout did not mention, using z\* when the population standard deviation is unknown. Bearly says it is correct, and notes that the model can bring in material from outside the notes.

## Revising the Page

The first Page is a starting point. Changes are requested in the same chat, and Bearly revises it. Examples from the post: adding a ten-question practice quiz that scores at the end, making the cards harder with scenario questions, or adding a card for every bolded term. A successful revision creates a new version, and Previous version and Next version in the open Page let users compare them. Select Download to save the current version as an .html file.

## Other sources

Notes are not the only input. For a lecture recording, type /transcribe, attach the audio or video, then ask for the study guide from the transcript. For a YouTube lecture, paste the link and Bearly opens the video in a card with a summary and key moments. When it can read the captions, it saves the transcript to the chat.
