# Your first Base Code turn is free

Base44 waives credits for the first build in a repository imported with Base Code, regardless of which AI model handles it.

The first build in an app imported with [Base44](<https://creatorstoolbox.com/tools/base44>)'s Base Code [now costs no credits](<https://docs.base44.com/Getting-Started/base-code>), whichever model runs it.

Base Code works on an existing GitHub repository rather than an app built in Base44. The AI chat makes changes on a branch, shows them in a development preview, and can open a pull request for review. The project must be a web or full-stack project.
