# Stopping the AI mid-response

By Steven Van · 2026-10-18

Base44 now bills for any replies the AI finished before you stopped it, while stopping before the first reply remains free.

Stopping the AI partway through a response is no longer treated as free once it has replied. [Base44](<https://creatorstoolbox.com/tools/base44>) now [charges for the replies the AI had already finished](<https://docs.base44.com/changelog/product#october-18-2026>) when you stop it, the same way it would for a message that runs to the end.

## What is and isn't charged

- Stop the AI after it has finished one or more replies, and those replies are charged.

- Stop it before its first reply and nothing is charged.

Base44 points to its Credits FAQs for more detail.
