# Start a workflow from what it should do

By Steven Van · 2026-10-04

The AI fills in a prompt for the chosen action, then asks what should trigger the workflow.

The Create a new workflow canvas in [Base44](<https://creatorstoolbox.com/tools/base44>) now includes an Add action card next to Add trigger.

## Choose an action, then a trigger

Start by picking what the workflow does: a backend function, a condition, a wait, or a step you describe yourself. The AI fills in a prompt for that action, then asks what should set the workflow off.

The change is covered in the [October 4 workflow update](<https://docs.base44.com/changelog/product#october-4-2026>).
