# Secrets encrypted at rest

By Steven Van · 2026-10-15

Base44 now encrypts workspace secrets where they are stored and fetches them only at runtime, on Education and Enterprise workspaces.

Secrets stored in [Base44](<https://creatorstoolbox.com/tools/base44>) workspaces are now encrypted at rest on **Education and Enterprise** plans, according to the [October 15 changelog](<https://docs.base44.com/changelog/product#october-15-2026>).

## How secrets are handled

A workspace's secrets are encrypted where they are stored. They are fetched only when the app runs, so they never sit in plain form alongside the app.

## Availability

The change applies to Education and Enterprise workspaces. The changelog lists it under Enterprise and SSO, and under Security and access.
