# Make a file private

By Steven Van · 2026-10-15

A public file in a Base44 asset library can now be switched to private, which disables its public link and flags it as private.

A public file in a [Base44](<https://creatorstoolbox.com/tools/base44>) asset library can now be made private, [according to the changelog](<https://docs.base44.com/changelog/product#october-15-2026>). Once a file is private, its public link stops working.

The file is also marked as private in the library, so its status is visible at a glance.
