# Edit your branch's code in the Code tab

By Steven Van · 2026-09-02

The Code tab now saves to the branch you are on, so you can change your app's code in a branch and leave main untouched.

The Code tab in [Base44](<https://creatorstoolbox.com/tools/base44>) now [saves edits to the branch you're on](<https://docs.base44.com/changelog/product#september-2-2026>) instead of main, so you can change your app's code in a branch and leave the live version untouched. Changes reach main once you merge the branch. A few files affect the whole app rather than a single branch, and Base44 blocks saves to those from a branch, pointing you to main instead.
