# Claim a custom domain another workspace used

By Steven Van · 2026-09-08

Base44 now reserves a deleted app's custom domain for its original workspace, requiring DNS verification before another workspace can claim it.

Deleting a [Base44](<https://creatorstoolbox.com/tools/base44>) app used to release its custom domain for anyone to grab. Now the domain stays reserved for the workspace that had it, and a different workspace has to prove control over it before connecting it.

- Your own workspace: reconnecting a domain it used before connects straight away, with nothing to prove.

- A different workspace: the add-domain dialog shows a TXT record to publish at your DNS provider, then you try again.

- Still in use: a domain attached to a live app cannot be taken over until whoever is using it removes it.
