# Base44 adds branches for testing changes without touching live sites

By Steven Van · 2026-08-06

A branch forks a running build, data included, so redesigns or campaign variants can be tested before merging back to production.

Base44 has added branches, letting a build split into a parallel copy while the published version keeps running. A branch can be used to redesign a site, test changes, or run a campaign variant, and the live version stays untouched, data included, until the branch is merged and published.
