# Version 1.30.0 of the ant CLI adds ant apply, which creates and updates agents, environments, skills

Version 1.30.0 of the [ant CLI](<https://creatorstoolbox.com/tools/anthropic>) adds *ant apply*, a command that creates and updates Claude API resources, agents, environments, skills, memory stores, and deployments, from files kept in a repository.

Each resource is described in a file, an agent as a Markdown file with YAML frontmatter, for example, and running *ant apply* prints a plan of what will change before asking for approval. The first run writes a claude-lock.json lockfile recording each resource's ID; committing that file lets later runs, on a developer's machine or in CI, update the same resources instead of creating new ones.

Resources can reference each other by file path instead of by ID, so an agent can list a skill or another agent it depends on, and *ant apply* resolves them in dependency order. In CI, [the docs](<https://platform.claude.com/docs/en/cli-sdks-libraries/cli/apply>) describe running *ant apply --yes* on the default branch after merge, and *ant apply --dry-run* to print the plan on pull requests without changing anything.
