# Gemini API managed agents add a free tier and cron triggers

Gemini API Managed Agents has [free tier access](<https://x.com/GoogleAIStudio/status/2077801843720093867>), token budgets, and scheduled triggers.

You can use an API key from a project without billing enabled to run interactions under free rate limits. Set max\_total\_tokens to cap an interaction's token use. When it hits the cap, it stops as incomplete and can resume where it left off.

Scheduled triggers pair an agent, environment, and prompt with a cron schedule for recurring runs. Each run reuses the same sandbox, so files persist between runs.
