# Obsidian 1.15 Desktop (Public)

Obsidian 1.15 replaced its Mermaid renderer with a new library called [Pele](<https://obsidian.md/changelog/2026-11-02-desktop-v1.15.0/>), and the desktop release is now public.

Pele is compatible with Mermaid 12.1.0 syntax. Obsidian says diagrams and charts now appear faster and pick up the colors and fonts of your theme. They also resize to the width of the note, and you can zoom and pan when a diagram has been scaled down. Because Pele can't run code, diagrams now show without asking first, and the "Show Mermaid diagrams in notes" setting is gone.

Plugin and theme authors get new --mermaid-\* CSS variables for colors, corner radius, and font weights, plus .pele-\* classes on diagram elements. Obsidian no longer bundles Mermaid. loadMermaid() and window.mermaid now draw with Pele and support initialize(), render(), and parse(), but the SVG carries Pele's classes instead of Mermaid's.

Other changes in the release:

- Bases filters can be dragged to reorder, and each filter row has a menu to add filters or move them between All views and This view.

- New URI and CLI commands append or prepend content under a heading, with control over line breaks around the added text.

- Suggestions ignore accents, so "cafe" matches "café" in link suggestions, Quick switcher, Command palette, and Bases search.

- Community plugins load faster at startup.
