# Gemini can check a file for Google’s SynthID watermark

Signed-in Gemini users can [ask whether an image](<https://x.com/GeminiApp/status/2115171788812669225>), video or audio file carries Google's SynthID watermark.

The check recognizes Google AI content only. It won't identify files made with another company's AI tools, and a missing watermark doesn't prove a file is human-made.
