The Figma agent is generally available

By Steven Van ·

Custom skills are now available on Starter, and the agent uses AI credits from October 6.

Design library guidelines, file search in chat and improved latency are part of the Figma agent’s move out of beta. The October 6 announcement also adds ways to share context and follow teammates’ agents on the canvas.

Give the agent library guidelines

Users can upload markdown files to a design library with rules, best practices and antipatterns. The agent reads these guidelines every time a user prompts with that library enabled.

Bring Figma content into chat

The agent can search for files across the platform when prompted, and insert or reference design files, FigJam sticky notes and Figma Slides content. To attach files as context, click the + button in the lower left corner of the prompt box, then select “attach Figma files”. Users can also copy and paste Figma nodes directly into the prompt box to add context and reference images.

Follow teammates’ agents

Teammates’ agents can be watched live on the canvas. Click the chat pile to see or follow their work.

Edit images and create skills

Generative plugins are now generally available. Users can select an image model to edit images through the agent’s on-canvas entrypoint. The agent can also help brainstorm, create and publish custom skills, which are now available on the Starter plan.

The Figma agent uses AI credits as of October 6.
