Codex 0.164.0 adds ten numbered /presets slots for reusable prompts and slash commands, with a keyboard menu for quick access.

You can also set the model, reasoning effort, speed and permission profile through inline /model and /permissions arguments. Viewed and generated images can appear in the fullscreen transcript on terminals that support Kitty or Sixel graphics.

The release fixes session resume restoring global defaults instead of saved thread settings. It also masks credentials during supported remote Bash commands and Zsh snapshot sessions, including credentials from custom providers.
