How to add an MCP server to Claude: Claude.ai, Claude Desktop and Claude Code

Unif API published a guide to adding MCP servers across Claude.ai, Claude Desktop and Claude Code, using its own server as the example.

For remote servers in Claude.ai and Desktop, use Settings, then Connectors, then Add custom connector. Custom connectors require a paid plan, and Team or Enterprise owners may need to enable them. The server must be reachable from the public internet.

Local Desktop servers go in claude_desktop_config.json and need a full restart. Claude Code uses claude mcp add; project-scoped servers require approval before first use.
