GitHub intelligence puts your code, context, and history to work

GitHub Copilot Memory is generally available on paid Copilot plans. It carries personal preferences and repository conventions across sessions and clients, such as how you want pull request descriptions written or which test command a repository uses. Copilot can also generate and curate memories from sessions.

Copilot Dreaming is in preview to keep that context current, including proposing instructions and skills through pull requests. The initial preview requires GPT-6.1 Sol and an eligible paid plan, excludes Copilot Pro, and doesn't support Enterprise Cloud with data residency.

Dreaming needs Memory and relevant policies enabled. Repository customization and personal memory curation also require session syncing; code review customization has separate prerequisites and doesn't support self-hosted runners.

Every Dreaming run uses AI credits, even if it makes no changes. Disabling it stops future runs in that scope but doesn't undo changes or restore deleted memories.
