Build shared workflows for your team with Copilot Automations
Shared Copilot Automations are rolling out on GitHub. You can combine prompts, triggers and allowed tools into cloud workflows for tasks such as reproducing bugs when issues open.
Everyone with repository read access can see a shared automation; people with write access can edit it. It belongs to the repository and acts as Copilot. AI credits and separate Actions minutes are billed to the repository owner.
By default, automations ignore events from users without write access. Pull requests they open need write-user approval before workflows run, plus an additional approval where repository rules already require one.
The rollout covers Copilot Pro, Pro+, Max, Business and Enterprise, with availability varying during rollout. Creating one requires repository write access. Organization repositories also need an administrator to enable the policy allowing organization-billed Copilot cloud agent use.
