GitHub Agentic Workflows generally available

GitHub Agentic Workflows is generally available. The open source GitHub Next project lets you write automation instructions in Markdown and compile them into GitHub Actions YAML for tasks such as issue triage, CI failure analysis and documentation updates.

You can use Copilot or bring your own coding agent. Workflows reuse your existing runner groups and policy constraints.

Agents have read-only permissions by default and run in a sandboxed container behind the Agent Workflow Firewall. GitHub content access follows integrity filters, outputs go through validation, and a threat detection job scans proposed changes before they're applied.
